The black comes from 壬, the ocean. Big mind, restless current — you need room to move. The rat (子): quick and alert — you always find a way through. Cancer is water: your strength goes into guarding your people and your place.

When the Black Rat fights

When you fightYou sink deep, then flood all at once.Quiet as the ocean, until it rises — and no one can stop it.

How you're misreadPeople say they don't know what's going on inside you. You're deep. It takes time to bring it up.

Your strength in a conflictYou hold everything. You take in every side of them, generously.

What Cancer addsYou go into your shell.Cancer water makes your heart bruise more easily. Before you hide: "I'm hurt."
